Nec Tamen Consumebatur

$400.00

I was reading Psalm 129 and a Bible commentary. The end of verse 2 says, “yet they have not prevailed against me,” which in Latin is “nec tamen consumebatur,” meaning “yet not consumed.” The commentary explained that God’s people may be oppressed but are never consumed. This made me think about how the world’s sparkly, enticing things surround us, making it hard not to conform. We often hear, “It’s okay to do this; you do you,” even when we know it’s wrong.

This resonates deeply with my sobriety journey. The world often pushes us towards chaos and loss of control, but God offers us peace and strength to stay grounded. Though many of us have walked in that worldly chaos, it’s never too late to accept Gods grace, mercy, and love and change our ways back to His ways. 🧡 Just like the gold lichen on the branch, which never fully consumes the tree, we do not have to stay consumed by the world’s chaos. A tree doesn’t always fall during an avalanche; its roots keep it grounded. Similarly, even among the chaos, we can remain grounded in faith.

We may not end up sparkling like the world but we still sparkling because we a child of God babyyyyy! Shine on ✨
